Тринадцатый полноформатник VR “Celebration Decay” продолжает стилистический вектор последних четырёх альбомов – это ядрёный US Power Metal с ощутимыми трэшевыми нотками, базирующийся на мощных качающих риффах и многочисленных гитарных соло.
Альбом стал дебютом для вокалиста Ника Куртни (экс-Gladius), чей хриплый сердитый вокал, порой напоминающий Ральфа Шеперса из Primal Fear хорошо вписался в музыку «сплетников». Более того, нередко Ник позволяет себе чуть ли не дикинсоновские интонации и распевы, что в сочетании с тяжеловесной музыкой VR выглядит достаточно необычно.
В техническом плане релиз безупречен. Он не затянут и отлично записан – за чистый плотный саунд спасибо звукорежиссёру Хуану Уртеаге (Testament, Machine Head, Hatriot и т. д.), работающему с группой уже полтора десятка лет.
