16-й студийный альбом британских первопроходцев готик-метала PARADISE LOST "Obsidian" вышел 15 мая 2020 года на лейбле Nuclear Blast.
Вокалист Nick Holmes рассказал об "Obsidian" следующее: "Прошлый альбом ('Medusa', 2017) был в значительной степени сознательной попыткой сделать дум-дэтовый альбом. Это был полностью нашим решением – мы не хотели слишком далеко отходить в сторону. Наверное, всегда, когда мы начинаем сочинять новый материал, мы смотрим на предыдущий диск как на ориентир, чтобы понять, куда двигаться дальше, и в этот раз мы решили, что новый материал будет чуть более разнообразным. На самом деле, первая песня, которую мы написали - 'Fall From Grace' – очень напоминает предыдущий альбом. Но примерно после трех песен ты начинаешь более-менее понимать, куда движешься. Думаю, в этом диске есть влияние различных эпох, но я уверен, что это в очень значительной степени альбом PARADISE LOST. Я в этом не сомневаюсь. Я также считаю, что это очень-очень мрачный альбом. Во многих отношениях мрачнее, чем предыдущий, хоть и не такой тяжелый. Думаю, мы не слишком далеко отошли от того, чем мы знамениты, но все равно добавили немного новых готических элементов, чего мы давно не делали. Пожалуй, в паре песен готика преобладает".
