Калифорнийские фанк-металлисты MORDRED подписали контракт с лейблом M-Theory Audio. Их новый альбом "The Dark Parade", первый полноформатник за 27 лет, выйдет весной 2021 года.
MORDRED появились на активно растущей сцене Сан-Франциско в 1984 году, когда эта сцена начинала путь к мировому господству. Хотя основу их саунда составлял трэш-метал, от которого в публике стабильно возникал мош-пит, MORDRED выделялись тем, что интегрировали в свой саунд приемы игры, характерные для фанка, и влияния хип-хопа. Группа была одной из первых, кто строил свое творчество на притяжении этих противоположностей, но хотя искусные басовые партии Art Liboon и инновационная работа с вертушками Aaron “DJ Pause” Vaughn придали трэшу новое прочтение, MORDRED сохранили металлическую жесткость благодаря груву и шреду от гитаристов Danny White и James Sanguinetti и энергичным хоровым припевом, в которых запевалой был вокалист Scott Holderby. Это сочетание трэша и экспериментального соула дало жизнь трем полноформатным альбомом, вышедшим на лейбле Noise – почитаемому дебютнику "Fool's Game" (1989), еще более эклектичному "In This Life" (1991) и последнему на текущий момент "The Next Room" (1994).
MORDRED официально воссоединились и стали давать концерты в 2013 году, но если не считать сингла “The Baroness” (2015), фэнам пришлось ждать новых песен до лета этого года. Лишь в июне 2020-го давние поклонники группы были вознаграждены релизом четырехпесенного EP "Volition".
